Lesson Introduction
The lecture will begin with the teacher reviewing the Russian Revolution with the class. The teacher will repeat vocabulary words previously learned and write it on the white board. Prior knowledge of the Russian Revolution is essential to understanding Stalin's rise to power.

Content Delivery
Teacher will present a PowerPoint lecture about Stalin’s rise to power. The life of Joseph Stalin before his rise will be covered as well as Stalin's policies once in office. Students will first watch a 4 minute documentary on Stalin on page two of the presentation before the lesson is lectured. There will be various times during the lesson in which the teacher will ask students critical thinking questions or provide material for the students to discuss that requires critical thinking as well.
Student Engagement
Students will complete a guided notes assignment that will coincide with the lecture that is given. It guided notes includes questions to answer together as a class after the presentation. Students will also participate in various discussions with their assigned discussion partner and with the class as a whole based on the questions posed by the teacher.
LEsson Closure
The teacher will close the lesson by reviewing the material that was presented. Vocabulary will be emphasized during the closure review session. A quiz will be given the next day of class as a summative assessment.

Accomodations for students with special needs
The first accommodation that is made for ELLs, striving readers, and students with special needs is that simplified guided notes are intentionally given in order for students to have a clear understanding on what is being presented, while still keeping students thinking critically about the subject. The class will go over the guided note questions together to benefit these students as well. The vocabulary review that is done at the beginning and at the end of class is also implemented to better assist ELLs, striving readers, and students with special needs.
